How to say “no” at holiday parties.

Have you ever been to a party where someone basically guilts you to eat foods you normally avoid, or eat more than you want? It can feel like a lot of pressure, especially if the person has gone to a lot of trouble to make special treats or seasonal favorites. You don’t want to be rude, but you just don’t want to eat it.

Here’s a tip: Pay them a compliment and then politely decline. If you feel that you need to say more you can tell them you’re already full, or that you’re pacing yourself and thank them for the invite. That usually does the trick.
